From the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce:
Springfield, Virginia – October 12, 2010 – The Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce has announced its endorsement of Governor Bob McDonnell’s proposal to privatize ABC stores in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
The Chamber’s Board voted to support privatization of Virginia’s ABC stores because it is a win for free enterprise. Furthermore, under the Governor’s proposal ABC privatization is a significant one-time source of income for a transportation infrastructure bank and is a balanced, net-neutral result for the Commonwealth and residents.
“Bottom line, Virginia should be in the business of regulating alcohol, not selling it,” reminds Dan La May, President of the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce. “Allowing free enterprise to flourish is the key to economic recovery.”
