Urgent Cat Foster Families Needed

Urgent Cat Foster Families Needed

Thanks to our caring community, we found the foster homes needed and then some for the dogs who were temporarily displaced during a renovation project at our New York Avenue adoption center. We can’t thank our friends and supporters enough for stepping in to help animals in need. In an effort to provide a better environment for all of the animals in our care, major improvement projects continue at our New York Avenue facility, and this time, it is our cats who are looking to their community for help.

Trap, Neuter, Return Program Decreases Homeless Feral Cat Population

Trap, Neuter, Return Program Decreases Homeless Feral Cat Population

From Fairfax County Police Department:

The Fairfax County Animal Shelter is experiencing the positive results of a trap, neuter and return (TNR) program that the municipal agency enacted in October 2008.  Since the humane solution was implemented for feral cats (outdoor cats not socialized to people), the shelter has noted a significant decrease in the number of feline offspring entering the shelter’s foster care program.
