WHS Waives Cat Adoption Fees in June
Pets

This notice comes to us from the Washington Humane Society:

To celebrate Adopt-A-Shelter-Cat Month this June, the Washington Humane Society (WHS), in collaboration with the American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) and the makers of Fresh Step litter, is participating in a fee-waived adoption program to help find loving homes for cats. During the month of June, WHS will waive adoption fees on all cats over the age of 2 at both of its shelter locations.

This year, WHS expects to care for nearly 10,000 animals in its shelters, including many healthy, adoptable cats. The organization hopes this program will help these felines find well-matched new companions in forever homes. Throughout the month, interested pet parents can meet shelter cats as well as adoption counselors and staff who are on-site to answer questions and guide the matching process. All other adoption policies and thorough match-making procedures remain in effect.

WHS shelters are located at 1201 New York Ave. NE (open during the District Dept. of Transportation New York Avenue construction project) and 7319 Georgia Ave. NW. In addition, WHS operates a low-cost, high-volume spay and neuter facility at 1001 L St. NE, in the heart of Capitol Hill. The National Capital Area Spay & Neuter Center also hosts a weekly vaccine clinic every Tuesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Additionally, WHS has an animal training facility, the Behavior and Learning Center, located at 7315 Georgia Ave. NW, offering lessons, group classes and behavioral workshops.
