Feline Campaigning For Senate Seat | News
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
SPRINGFIELD, VA. (WUSA) - With glowing green eyes and a glossy coat, he doesn't look like the average politician. In the dog-eat-dog world of politics, this cool cat is using one of his nine lives to run for office--a Senate seat, to be exact.
Hank, a nine-year-old Maine Coon cat, is hoping voters will choose him over rivals George Allen and Tim Kaine. With an agenda that includes low-cost spay/neutering for all animals, Hank, whose family adopted him from a rescue group when he was a fluffy five weeks old, has a sleek website and a Facebook page.
Just like human politicians, he's asking for volunteers to help get the word out about his efforts (you can sign up on his web page). If you send in a photo of your "Hank for Senate" sign, Hank will send you a t-shirt from his campaign headquarters (his family's Springfield home).
His campaign commercial is titled "The Greatest Land of All," a cat's eye view of the land of opportunity.
While Hank may not officially appear on Virginia ballots, he's counting on write-in votes from feline-friendly humans.
