ECHO’s Fabulous Five

ECHO’s Fabulous Five

This is the story of five remarkable women who have racked up a total of 192 years of continuous volunteer service. Their efforts have enabled ECHO, a local all-volunteer charitable agency serving needy people since 1968, to continue to provide food, clothing, household goods and emergency financial assistance.  ECHO, supported in good part by local churches, civic organizations and businesses, serves needy people in Springfield, Burke and parts of Fairfax Station and Lorton.

These five women have devoted tens of thousands of hours of their time and expertise to helping people in our community who find themselves mired in poverty or sometimes simply overwhelmed by a series of emergencies that they cannot handle alone. Their story is of the changes in our society and landscape over more than 40 years.
