 “It was wonderful to be back on the George Washington University campus and it was amazing to be able to sample so many delicious cakes,” said Sabrina Campbell, Occasionally Cake owner.

Both Alexandria cake boutiques offer more than 100 cake and gourmet cupcake flavors. Occasionally Cake is also renowned for their cake truffles. Instead of discarding leftover cake, it became the centerpiece of their cake truffles, and then dipped in Belgian chocolate.

Monza of Historic Manassas will be collecting gently used coats to donate to SERVE in exchange for a $25 Monza or Carmello’s gift card and free hot chocolate and coffee on Sat.,
Dec. 7 during the Greater Manassas Christmas Parade. Coat donations will be accepted from

“We all feel the drop in temperature, and for those in need, sometimes one warm coat is hard to come by which is why we wanted to help collect as many coats as possible for the our local SERVE program,” said Miguel Pires, general manager of Monza in Historic Manassas, Va. “SERVE has been instrumental in helping the neediest of our community and we hope people will be able to help us be able to give back, and enjoy a free coffee and gift card on us,” said Pires.

Greenspring Recognized by Fairfax County Board of Supervisors for 15th Anniversary

(Springfield, Va.) - On Tuesday, November 19, Greenspring was recognized by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors for 15 successful years in Fairfax County.  Greenspring celebrated the community’s 15th anniversary on November 17 and is now home to nearly 2000 residents and the workplace of nearly 1000 staff members.

Lee District Supervisor Jeff McKay brought forth the matter to the Board on Tuesday to recognize the community.   “I’m proud that Greenspring chose to locate in Lee District—we benefit tremendously from its presence,” said McKay.  “Greenspring residents take civic responsibility very seriously.  They actively volunteer and can always be counted on to support our local civic events. “

Metropolitan School of the Arts (MSA) of Lorton, Va. will host their annual Breakfast with Santa on Sun., Dec. 8 at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Hotel Monaco, 480 King Street in Old Town Alexandria. ThFrosty Follies’ performers will join Santa for the annual Breakfast with Santa. The family-event offers Sunday brunch at the Hotel Monaco in Old Town Alexandria, complete with a live jazz performance from Metropolitan School of the Arts’ dancers, interactive song and dance workshop for the kids, special goody bags and visits from Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Suzy Snowflake and her International Dolls.

With the holidays approaching, eating and indulging is top-of-mind for most, but The Metropolitan School of the Arts (MSA) Studio in Alexandria, Va. has started its Training for Turkey adult fitness program now through Nov. 28, offering unlimited adult fitness classes for $50.  MSA will even host a special Thanksgiving Day MetroBarre and Yoga Class on Thurs., Nov. 28 to bring in the holiday. And for all those moms, childcare is available at both studios for all 9:30 a.m. classes, Monday through Friday. Cost is $2 per child. The City of Manassas Department of Public Works and Utilities is donating $3, 165 to the American Cancer Society for Breast Cancer Awareness, as part of their 100 Year Anniversary Event, where more than 600 people attended and Manassas Utilities donated $5 for every person that participated. They also announced winners of their grand prize giveaways, which are: Janet Richards of Manassas, winning the Ashby Jeweler’s pearl necklace and bracelet set, while Jesse Caudill, Marita Doherty and Pedro Amaya of Manassas, Va. also won $50 gift cards from City Square Café and Monza of Manassas.
