News, Schools

From Fairfax County Public Schools:

The new Foundation for Fairfax County Public Schools will be launched at a news conference on Tuesday, January 4, at 8 a.m. at the Gatehouse Administration Center.

A partnership of the Fairfax Chamber of Commerce and Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS), the foundation will be a flexible vehicle for the community to invest in its future through education.  The foundation will be able to support initiatives that help students acquire 21st century skills, advance the diverse needs of the community, and contribute to the creation of a world-class workforce.

All donations go directly to the foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, and are tax deductible.  Donations may be either directed to a specific school or schools, invested in the general fund, used to create or expand a program, or contribute to the endowment.

Among the opportunities for donations are:

  • Programs in elementary, middle, and high school that prepare underrepresented students for college.
  • Teacher grants and training.
  • Helping students in poverty obtain basic needs, such as clothing, school supplies, and eyeglasses.
  • Support of an all-electronic learning environment, including 24/7 Internet access, for all students.
  • Funding field trips to Junior Achievement’s Finance Park, where middle school students learn real life financial literacy.
