DMV Indie Film Festival to Continue Through Weekend

Looking for something new and different to do this weekend? Want to stay out of the cold? Well, last night I attended the DMV Indie Film Showcase, a film festival that highlights some our area’s very own filmmaking talent. The festival opened last night, but it will run through Sunday, December 5.

Come out any night this weekend at 7 PM to the Cinema Arts Theatre in Fairfax to catch several different short films, along with the feature production 6 Nonsmokers. The shorts will definitely get you thinking, encompassing a variety of genres and the comedy 6 Nonsmokers is a guaranteed laugh out loud.

I spoke to Francis Abbey, the Director of 6 Nonsmokers, after his productions company’s first night of hosting this event. He is looking forward to building their audience one person at a time. “There is a great community of filmmakers in DC, but there is so much to compete with for attention,” said Abbey. As far as the film festival the rest of the weekend Abbey joked that he hopes the NFL poses less competition than 495 on Sunday. Don’t miss out on this special event!
