CUE Bus Base Fare Increases by 10¢ Effective January 2, 2011

FAIRFAX, Va. — Effective January 2, 2011, the City of Fairfax CUE Bus base fares will increase by 10¢ to $1.70 per person. Only the base fare is affected.  Fare remains $1.50 for SmarTrip users.  Fares for elementary and high school students, riders with disabilities and senior citizens with valid ID remain 75¢.

Children age 3 and younger continue to ride for free, as do George Mason University students, staff and faculty with ID.  For information, call 703-385-7859.

Stop fumbling for cash for bus fare: switch to SmarTrip.  CUE Bus patrons may recharge these permanent plastic cards at any Metro station, on the Metro website — even on the CUE Bus.  For information, visit www.wmata.com or call 202-637-6700.

The Treasurer’s Office in City Hall sells SmarTrip cards for $5, which includes $5 in fares.  For information, call 703-385-7900.  (Please note: the Treasurer’s Office does not sell senior SmarTrip cards.)

Remember to rely on Nextbus (www.nextbus.com) to receive real-time information via computer or handheld device regarding the arrival of CUE Bus — and other local buses — at a specific stop.
